William Henderson and B. McGraw talk about higher education. What purpose does it have? Why are student loans going up so much? Is it really worth it? This is Part 1 of 3 episodes.
We briefly discuss political bias in higher education, before going over the different models of college in Europe vs America. We discuss the differences in terms of specialization, campus life, and college sports. Then, we then discuss college attends by country and internal to the United States. We discuss the correlation between college graduation and both median income level and unemployment rate. After this, we go into a discussion about whether the better life outcomes of people with higher education is correlation or causation. Does college impart skills which improve human capital? Or is it a signaling mechanism for people who were already conscientious in high school?
