Unjerked E14 – Carbon Emissions – Part 2

Unjerked E14 – Carbon Emissions – Part 2 post thumbnail image

William Henderson and B. McGraw talk about carbon emissions.  Why does the energy transition matter, even regardless of climate impacts? Who has the oil? Who emits the most? What are fossil fuels used for?  This is Part 2 of 2 episodes.

We discuss the concept of cap and trade, then talk about some constraints which are slowing the growth of vehicle electrification.  Additionally, we go over the role of zoning reform, whether passenger ships or aircraft are more fuel efficient, and the role of heat pumps in building climate control.  Then we discuss the role of subsidies in fossil fuels vs green energy, discuss the need or grid energy storage, and the role NIMBY-ism plays in limiting the growth of clean energy.  We then do a quick review of different energy methods, to include hydroelectric, modular nuclear reactors, molten salt nuclear reactors, recycling nuclear fuel, deep geothermal drilling, grid energy technologies, and more.  We then discuss some non-compelling solutions, to include vertical farming, carbon offsets, solar roads, biofuels, and carbon capture.
